REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibility is provide a continuum of clinical services that provides patients with access to Behavioral Health care on an inpatient and outpatient basis to patients and families served by the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute (CBDI). This will include multidisciplinary collaboration with physicians, nursing and other providers to deliver care that is appropriate to the patient's medical status. As such, the psychologist will be integrated into medical teams and are expected to effectively communicate and coordinate patient care with each team including outcomes attained and participate in medical and psychosocial care coordination meetings as necessary. Psychologist will be part of collaborative research with Dr. Pai and other CBDI faculty members including projects examining quality of lilfe inn brain tumors and solid tumor patients as well as the opportunity to examine data collected via clinical services and write these data up for publication.
Perform direct patient care of pediatric patients within the scope of the psychology license, education and experience. Consistently contributes toward the advancement of clinical patient care and improved outcomes. Interview and assess patients to determine presence of condition/disease and to establish preventive behavioral and mental health practices. Determine nature and extent of impairment, prescribe and administer appropriate behavioral or mental health interventions or assessments. Perform procedures, collect data, analyze data and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care, reassessment and discontinuation of care. May formulate, maintain, support, monitor and modify a patient-specific plan for care, treatment and rehabilitation based on the patient's assessment. If a subspecialist, works to establish a local or regional referral base.
Clinical Excellence Participates in and/or leads ongoing educational activities for continued enhancement of clinical expertise.
Effective Communication Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged. Provide data which will contribute to the assessment of a patient's needs, the organization's capability to provide care or treatment and the appropriate level of care.
Training and Education Participates in the training and education of medical students, residents, fellows, faculty, community Psychologists and/or staff, when possible. Attends clinical rounds, medical lectures, grand rounds, and other conferences, as assigned.
Policy Compliance Maintains good standing in the department by compliance to licensure and credentialing criteria. Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Follow Cincinnati Children's established code of ethical behavior in decisions and actions regarding marketing, admission, transfer, discharge and billing. PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology from APA accredited program. Licensed Psychologist. Post doctoral training and experience with desired clinical populations/2 years related experience. Approval from CCHMC Medical Staff Services Division. Completion of all requireed pre-employment activities (screening, background check, badging, and orientation) Assistant professor appointment or eligibility
