The community you’ll be caring for: AdventHealth Heart of Florida

The role you’ll contribute:

The RN provides direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patient populations.  Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment.  S/he communicates with surgeon and anesthesiologist continuously and as needed about patient condition, assists with the maintenance of surgical equipment and inventory, and participates in performance improvement activities.  S/he assesses operating room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of surgical operating team are met. Works closely with interdisciplinary team/DBC/Materials to assure specialty service lines (Ortho/Vascular/GU/GYN/Podiatry/General/Robotics) to facilitate care to our surgical patients. Monitors, positions and assists patient during procedure. 

The value you’ll bring to the team:

·       Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate patient care needs for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

·       Performs initial nursing assessments. Documents findings within identified time frames and activates initial plan of care.

·       Act as a clinical resource for perioperative services personnel within the specialty using professional guidelines and evidence-based standards.

·       Communicates with other staff, nurses, vendors, physicians and administrative personnel regarding any needed equipment/items and also assist with any problems/issues

·       Works collaboratively with staff inside and outside respective departments. 

·       Maintains clinical skills and performs as staff person when needed.

·       Documents patients’ progress in the medical record on a regular basis including assessment and management plans.

·       Safely administers medications to patients according to hospital policy and procedures. Conducts second nurse verifications. Reconciles medication on admission and transfer.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

·       Minimum of one year experience as an Operating Room Nurse.

·       Computer knowledge and skills

·       ADN, Diploma and/or BSN

·       Current Florida state Registered Nurse licensure

·       Current American Heart Association BLS certification

·       Current or completion of NIHSS stroke certification within thirty days

·       Current American Heart Association ACLS certification within 90 days
