Job DescriptionSUMMARY:Functioning within the guidelines of the Maryland State Nurse Practice Act, the Licensed Practical Nurse practices under the direction of a Registered Nurse. In a team relationship, the Licensed Practical Nurse contributes to the nursing process, which includes the following elements of patient care: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Licensed Practical Nurse is at minimum, a competent practitioner who organizes and implements safe, therapeutic and efficient patient care in a controlled setting for a group of patients with predictable outcomes.
